Fixing The Broken Legs Of A Metal Bed Frame

Fixing The Broken Legs Of A Metal Bed Frame

Bed frames take much punishment throughout their lives. They carry the weight of the mattress and then the person lying on it. Children may even jump on beds without understanding the stress that the bed frames go through. No matter what quality of metal beds you use, there are chances that the bed frames can break over time.

Metal bed frames are strong and sturdy, but they can break over time. If you have a broken metal bed frame, do not throw it away. You can fix the bed frame and make it strong so that you can reuse it. Metal beds come in different heights, but height does not matter much when it comes to the metal ones. It is the strength of the metal beds that matters the most. If the legs of the bed are not strong enough, they will not be able to support the weight of the mattress and the person lying on the bed. That is why it is advised to buy a sturdy metal bed.

How To Fix The Broken Leg Of Metal Beds?

So, what to do when the leg of your metal bed is broken? Here is what you can do to fix it.

  • Support the broken part of the metal bed with some solid things that can take the weight of the bed. This will let the weight be equally distributed to all parts of the metal bed. Understand that if the complete weight of the metal bed is focused on one of the legs, the leg could get broken.
  • The next thing is to weld the broken leg of the bed. If you have the knowledge and the equipment required to weld the bed, you can do it yourself. However, if you do not have the necessary tools, you need to hire a welder to fix the broken leg of the bed.

In the usual cases, the welded leg might not be as sturdy as the rest of the legs. If this is the case with your metal bed, you may seek the suggestions of the welder on making the leg of the bed stronger to avoid repeating the damage incurred. The solution could be getting a new metal leg for the bed or adding a second leg near to the welded leg. You can buy new metal beds and other parts from a bed store in your area.
